Awards Keep Piling Up for the New Jaguar XE
In our last blog post we talked about the upcoming launch of the F-PACE, an entirely new type of vehicle to the Jaguar.
But there’s another brand new vehicle from Jag that actually precedes the F-PACE into production. In April, the new Jaguar XE sedan began rolling off the company’s production lines in Solihull, UK. And the accolades soon started rolling in.
The XE has been called “Jaguar’s most important new car of the past 20 years” (Daily Express) and a “game changing” car (Daily Telegraph).
Part of the reason for all the attention is that the XE joins a very competitive sector crowded by a number of popular and highly regarded participants, including the BMW 3 Series, the Mercedes C Class and the Audi A4. Formidable competition indeed.
It’s important for Jaguar to get into the entry-level “compact executive car” segment. BMW, Mercedes and Audi all enjoy a major “up-sell” market of drivers who first get into less expensive models and move up to larger sedans later. The company is also enjoying some of the best sales figures in recent memory. To continue the momentum, and get a foothold in a booming sector, they had to come up with a winner.
And it looks like that’s just what they have created with the XE. In addition to the verbal accolades, the model continues to rack up some notable awards. And they started rolling in even before the XE hit the streets. In January, the XE was selected by over 100,000 voters from 59 countries as the “Most Beautiful Car of 2014” by the Festival Automobile International in Paris.
In June, shortly after its introduction to the market place, the UK’s Telegraph crowned the new model as “Car of the Year” and added the “Best Business Car” award as a bonus.
More recently, the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers named the XE as “Best Executive” car for 2015.
